Monday Ruminations

18 Oct

Another Happy Monday! Quiet around the office, since two of our staff have not yet made it to work, one of them is not coming at all, but hey, the joys of a lack of oversight cannot be exaggerated I suppose. I awoke this morning to stories on the news that struck me as particularly irrelevant. A woman who claims her husband was shot by ” Mexican bandits” but there is no body, and no sign of his jet ski, was being interviewed about being interviewed! Now that is ground breaking news! The second item was on Justin Bieber getting into a fight at a paint ball facility. Hmm, a sixteen year old teen idol has a skirmish with another unruly adolescent and that is national news. Really? How about the fact that millions of people are out of work, losing their homes, postponing long planned retirement, our public schools are in crisis, we have a pivotal mid-term election coming up in which much mud-slinging is occurring, I guess none of that is as important as the missing jet skier and Justin’s travails. What an interesting country we live in  that minutiae rules the air waves while our society goes down in flames!

Gotta love the media. CNN -“The Worldwide Leader in News” is concerned with “Smartphones: Our national obsession” it’s front and center on today’s page.
